What this is
Wanderpost publishes one long dispatch per city — a single, readable document covering where to base yourself, how to move around, what a day actually costs, when to go, and what is worth your limited attention. No listicles, no fifty-tabs-open comparison grids, no ranked “top 10” filler. One city, one long letter, filed and dated.
The format is deliberate. Most travel writing on the open web is optimised to be skimmed and abandoned. We would rather write the thing you read once, properly, the week before you go.
Who writes it
Wanderpost is run by one person as an independent project — no publisher, no tourism board, no newsroom behind it. Dispatches are drafted at the desk, checked against primary sources, and revised as things change.
How the reporting works — plainly
We think you deserve to know exactly what you are reading, so: these dispatches are researched and compiled, not filed from the ground. They are built from official transport and municipal sources, operator and venue listings, published fare and admission tables, and a wide read of first-hand accounts — then written into one coherent guide and dated so you can judge how fresh it is.
What that means for you: the structural advice — how the metro fare system works, which neighbourhood suits which kind of trip, what the seasons actually do to prices and crowds — is the part we work hardest on and the part that stays true longest. Anything perishable (an opening time, a specific price) should be confirmed with the venue before you rely on it. We would rather tell you that than pretend to an authority we do not have.
Corrections are genuinely welcome, and they get made. If something here is wrong or has gone stale, write to the desk — the correction lands in the next revision and the date at the foot of the page moves.
How the site pays for itself
Wanderpost is free to read and carries no display advertising. It is funded by affiliate links: some accommodation links point to Booking.com, and if you book through one we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra — the price is the same as going there directly.
What we will not do for money. We do not sell placements, do not accept payment to include or rank a property, and do not adjust what we recommend based on what pays best. If a neighbourhood is the wrong base for most travellers, we say so, whether or not there are bookable rooms in it. Commission never buys a mention.
Every affiliate link is marked, and each page carries a visible disclosure — no hidden redirects, no disguised buttons.
What is coming
New cities are added as they are researched, and existing dispatches are revised rather than left to rot. The city index is the current run; if the place you want is missing, tell us and it goes on the list.
